Turnitin Results:
- Chapter 1: 7%
- Chapter 2: 9%
- Chapter 3: 11%
- Chapter 4: 9%
- Chapter 5: 1%
- Chapter 6: 0%
- Overall Thesis: 12%
I am extremely grateful for these results, as the requirement is to achieve less than 20% similarity for the entire thesis and each individual chapter. The section I was most concerned about was Chapter 2 (Literature Review) since it involves extensive citations from other works.
Through this process, I realized that having the right software and tools significantly aids in completing the thesis efficiently. For instance, I used Sumatra PDF to read multiple PDF files simultaneously, often opening up to five windows at a time. For editing PDF documents, I relied on Adobe Acrobat.
For plagiarism checks, Turnitin is mandatory, and it is crucial to ensure the correct classroom settings are applied. Using incorrect settings may result in a similarity score exceeding 20%, which could prevent further resubmissions for checking.
As of the submission day, I have several software programs installed on my laptop to support my work. These include Keil uVision 5.0, STM32CubeIDE, Cygwin, Intel Quartus II, Intel Quartus Prime Lite 19.0, Microchip Studio (for Atmel), Visual Studio, Python-related tools, Proteus, KiCAD, and others. I have not uninstalled any of these programs yet, as I plan to keep them installed until I complete my thesis submission.
Need to make sure to have 2 unit of small ikea blue bag. As 1 unit is needed to be used to carry the 3 unit hardcopy of thesis submitted before viva. 1 more unit is for the 3 set of thesis that is newly print after correction.
Make sure set aside at least RM 100 for the printing and binding of the 3 set hard copy thesis. Also, the printout of the turnitin result and table of correction. As my table of correction is total of 40 pages. Which makes my supervisor angry with me for such many pages. Since he has to sign every page.
For the submission, ensure you have a companion with you to assist with driving, as this person will also serve as a witness if the recipient misplaces any submitted documents. It’s always better to be cautious.
Additionally, I make sure to scan all signed and submitted documents. Afterward, I email them to the officer in charge and cc my supervisor. While this process may be time consuming and cumbersome for many, trust me, it's a crucial step to protect yourself in case any documents go missing or are misplaced. Simply submitting the documents does not guarantee that you're fully covered.
Until then, have fun in finishing your thesis correction.
