Lunch with the usual recipe with Qurban beef and steamed rice

πŸ› Cooking Qurban Beef with Herbed Steamed Rice (10 June 2025)

This warm afternoon on 10 June 2025, I decided to make my usual Qurban beef recipe, a comforting and flavorful meal. This time paired with gently herbed steamed basmati rice. It’s a simple dish, made using what I had on hand, but full of richness and aroma thanks to the fresh leaves and butter-based sauce.

🍚 Steamed Rice (Herbed)

Ingredients:

130 gm basmati rice (±)
1 bay leaf
1 pandan leaf (4 cm × 5 cm)
3 curry leaves
300 ml water (±)

Method:

1. Rinse the basmati rice at least twice to remove excess starch.
2. Steam the rice with the leaves until fluffy and infused with fragrance.

Ingredients:

400 gm Qurban beef (roughly chopped)
30 gm salted butter (divided into 2 parts)
30 gm BBQ sauce
30 gm black pepper sauce
3 medium potatoes (peeled & cubed)
4 okra (bendi), chopped
275 ml water (±)
1 pandan leaf (4cm × 5cm)
3 stalks curry leaves
1 turmeric leaf (4cm × 6cm)
3 bay leaves
1.4 gm dried rosemary

Method:

1. Set your 6 liter Elba pressure cooker to the "Meat" function, timer 1.0.
2. Melt 15 gm butter in the inner pot. Add the beef to sear it, followed by the remaining butter.
3. Once browned, add water, sauces, potatoes, and all the aromatic leaves and rosemary.
4. Close the lid, lock the pressure, and let it cook.
5. After pressure cooking finishes and the pressure naturally releases, open the lid and stir in chopped okra.
6. Close the lid again and leave on ‘Keep Warm’ to gently finish cooking the okra without over-softening it.

The sliced beef. Next time need to slice it thinner.
The plated dish.

πŸ“ Notes:

* The pandan, turmeric, and curry leaves add a natural fragrance without overwhelming the beef.
* The final result is a soft, buttery stew with creamy potatoes and just-tender okra. Which is perfect over the steamed herbed rice.

Until next time, enjoy your kitchen time and make the most out of your Qurban meat blessings! πŸ„πŸŒΏπŸ΄.
