🛠️ DIY Save: How I Fixed My 65W Extension Trapped Plug Foot!

Ever had a broken power plug leave its "foot" snapped off inside your favorite extension cord? That is exactly the puzzle I faced on the morning of 8 June 2026. 

After a bit of patience, some specialized tools, and a quick trip to the hardware shop, I successfully opened my 65W power extension and reclaimed all three power ports by evening 23 June 2026. Here is exactly how I tackled this tricky little teardown project and how you can do it too!

The Roadblock: The Dreaded Triangle 2.0 Screw

Modern electronics companies love using proprietary security screws to keep people out. My 65W extension was held together by stubborn Triangle 2.0 security screws.

  • The Hunt: I couldn't use standard flat or Phillips heads, so I had to track down a specialized Triangle 2.0 driver head bit.
  • The Win: Fortunately, the newly purchased bit fit perfectly into my existing universal screwdriver base handle. Always buy modular toolsets!

Step-by-Step Execution: Clearing the Ports

If you find yourself needing to pry open a tight electronic housing casing without cracking the plastic, here was my exact workflow:

  • Unscrewing the Backing: I lined up the fresh Triangle 2.0 bit and backed out the hidden security screws along the base panel.
  • The Tweezer Wedge: Even with screws removed, tight plastic clips kept the housing locked. I carefully inserted a straight tweezer deep into the back screw hole channel to gently push and pop the internal latches free.
  • The Forceps Extraction: Once the shell cracked open, I used a pair of precision medical forceps to clamp down on the snapped left foot of the broken power plug. With a steady pull, it slid right out of the terminal socket.

🥳 The Final Verdict: 3 Ports Restored!

With the broken metal piece removed from the internal copper tracks, I aligned the housing casing, secured the Triangle 2.0 screws back into position, and powered it up. All 3 power ports are now completely clear and available for usage again!

Buying a small RM 5 to RM 10 driver bit completely saved me from throwing away a perfectly good, expensive 65W fast-charging extension block.
