Cooking nasi lemak as breakfast today with undergraduate student in Embedded lab

One of undergraduate student of my lecturer stay overnight at my home last night to discuss on her final year project. Since I also need to send her this morning to her class, I decided to teach her to cook my nasi lemak for her breakfast in lab.
The cooking process.
I even bring banana leaves this morning for such purpose. Additional ingredient that I put is Butterfly-Pea Flower (Bunga Telang) and lemuni leaves.
The Butterfly-Pea Flower (Bunga Telang)  will give blue colour to the rice. Usually people use it in nasi kerabu.
Lemuni leaves will give purple colour look to the rice.
Will update the cooked look later once it is ready [1].

Till then, have fun in cooking for your breakfast at your work place 😉.

Breakfast for today: fried horn banana and achovies chicken fritters

I manage to ask assistance from my labmate to help cut down my organic horn banana (pisang tanduk) tree in order to harvest the fruits.
While waiting for him, I make achovies mix with chicken fritters for his breakfast as his wage for the assistance.
Cripsy outside yet tender and soft inside.
The look of the fried organic horn banana (pisang tanduk) fruit.
The one that I cook weigh 992 gm for 1 unit. Basically total I could get near 16 kg for 1 tandan of it..
I have to import Master level person to assist in harvesting my organic horn banana (pisang tanduk).
Well, he do have experience in harvesting banana in father farm. So, it is not a big deal for him. It is strongly advised to engage professional for such task😉.
He do ask me how long does it take for my horn banana till harvest. I will update later after I check my previous blog entry.

Update:
I plant the horn banana tree last April 2016 [1]. Basically, almost 2 years for me to reap and harvest the fruit. But it worth the effort. As many friend who have consume it, said it is very delicious.
The soft and delicious look of my fried horn banana (pisang tanduk) fruit.
The packed fried horn banana (pisang tanduk) to share with my close and near ones 😉.

Till then, have fun enjoying your fried organic horn banana (pisang tanduk) at home 😉.

My fluffy Furball who seems loves to be in my lap

This is the look of Dell's step siblings yesterday. Can see how Furball loves to cuddle with me. Maybe due to my action who loves to play with her. Suspected Furball a female since the meowing sound is more high pitch and very rare to find male with 3 colours😅.

She climb into me while I am sitting down.
She helps herself on my lap.
To be frank, Dell do keep distance when I play with Furball. I even have to put Dell in my lap when playing with Furball in order to make Dell at ease, rather than him sitting away full of jealousy😅.

Till then, have resting while playing with your pets😘.

Kaduk leaves that I grow at home

It is not daun sireh – daun kaduk is softer and you can usually find this when you eat the appetiser, Mieng Kham, in Thai restaurants. This is the leaf you use to wrap the peanuts, dried prawns, chillies and all that yummy condiments. It is also used in Nyonya dishes such as perut ikan and otak-otak [1].
This is the look of my kaduk leaves at home yesterday.
Botanical name for kaduk leaves is Piper sarmentosum Roxb. It is a climbing herb that can grow up to 10 m long with long runners that can develop into plantlets [2].

I do just consume the leaves on its own as condiment (ulam). It has a little spicy taste and better for a very young leaves.

Till then, have fun in growing kaduk at home organically😉.

Organic turmeric harvest for today = 12 gm

Today I decided to harvest and replant my organic turmeric. Since the leaves already wither during this hot season. In case it cannot survive. I have plant it earlier last 4 months ago in smallest polybag at home.
The harvest and replanting process.
Do be careful in harvesting process. As there is a venomous centipede at the root of my turmeric. Fortunately I am alert that time and even able to cut the venomous centipede in 6 pieces.
Regardless I only manage to get only 12 gm for this time harvest, it is still better than none. It is good enough to sustain my house usage for a month😆. Since we use sparingly for our food at home in order to be frugal.
Those who share turmeric with me at home😹.
Till then, have fun harvesting your planted organic turmeric at home 😉.

The look of my cracked organic horn banana (pisang tanduk) fruit this morning

Just notice that there is a crack on my organic horn banana (pisang tanduk) this morning.
The close up look from my side window in master bedroom
Hopefully, the rest of the fruit it can survive during this quite hot weather.
Till then, have fun taking pictures of your crops at home.

Suffocated by smokes coming from open burning in neighborhood across mine

This open burning happen today, before 2.50 pm. Just notice it when the smokes fill up my room. Which makes me feel suffocated when inhaled such thick smokes as the wind blow towards my house area. Regardless I have not asthma history, but I am not able to stand such smokes when inhaled.

This one happen earlier, this Tursday (1 March 2017) around 11.26 am while I was doing my work from home.
Taken last Thursday, 1 March 2018 around 11.26 am.
During this time, I am unaware of the smokes and inhaled a lot when I finally notice it. I have to make and take Cuban oregano drink to help ease my suffocated lungs and nose [1]. Despite I do switch on my humidifier in my room, still not enough to reduce the smokes that already seeping into my rooms and house entirely.

Fortunately today, it rains heavily around 10 minutes after the heavy smokes. It would be bad for kids especially younger ones when inhaled such thick smokes seeping into their house.

Regardless I do plant few plants at home, I do refrain myself from burning the dry leaves piles. Instead, I collect and put it under my large plants as compost to them. Such as my horn banana (pisang tanduk) tree, papaya tree, and mango harum manis tree.

Till then, do consider others well being and refrain from burning the dry leaves piles at home.

My effort in germinating mint from cuttings

I bought the mint cutting from the packed ones sold in Jusco last week. Since it has been long since I want to buy it. But as I am quite busy the past week, I am unable to plant the cuttings immediately after purchase. I just manage to plant it this evening after almost 1 week having the cuttings.
The look of the mint roots in yellow circle.
Fortunately some of the cuttings still able to grow roots.
Till then, have fun in germinating cuttings of plant that you manage to get 😉.
